The richly coloured wood is from a tree which fell in a garden in the October 1987 gale. The top is from 2 superb wide bookmatched pieces.

The ends of the drawer fronts and rail conceal the tops of the legs and partitions so that the grain can flow uninterrupted round the piece.

The raised inlay is on the legs and rails of both pieces, even on the back of the chair which is curved in both directions for comfort and support.
